Durham Markets Company
Welcome to Durham Markets.
Durham Markets Company has been operating markets in Durham City since 1851.
We own and operate Durham Market Hall, winner of Best Private Market in the UK, as well as operating a variety of other markets and events, both in Durham and in the North East. These include:
- Durham City Farmers Market in the Market Place, held every third Thursday of the month from 9am
- Durham's Saturday Outdoor Retail Market, in the Market Place every Saturday from 9am
- Durham City Christmas Festival, taking place on the first full weekend in December
Plus occasional Continental Markets, Evening Markets and Sunday and Bank Holiday Markets in the Market Place.
Each month, we host an Afternoon Tea together with Age UK County Durham in Cafe Cenno. This is part of their 'Come Eat Together' scheme which encourages healthy eating alongside an opportunity to enjoy good company. The Afternoon Teas are £4 per person, and there's entertainment arranged. This is open to all over 60s, men and women and we'd love you to give it a try - everyone who's been so far has thoroughly enjoyed it.
Please come along and join us - our Afternoon Tea is on the 4th Tuesday of each month, and the next is 26th April.
Numbers are limited, so it is essential that you reserve your place in advance. You can do that now by calling Age UK County Durham on 0191 374 6577 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have also launched a Gent's Breakfast with Age UK County Durham, on the third Wednesday of each month. The first was a great success, and the next one will take place on Wednesday 17th June. Please use the number/ email above to reserve your place as places are, once again, limited. More details here.
Our Farmers and Craft Market takes place in Durham Market Place on the third Thursday of each month. We currently have a few places available for new traders at this market and would be interested in hearing from regional producers of food, or drink, or of hand-crafted items. If you're interested, please contact Colin - email email@example.com or call 0191 384 6153.
Kirsty, of Kirsty's Hampers and Fresh Flowers, is running monthly flower arranging classes - all welcome. The next class is on Tuesday 26th May, in Cafe Cenno in the Market Hall, from 5.30pm to 8pm. At this class the theme is arrangements around candles. The cost is £15 per person which includes supplies. To reserve your place, please contact Kirsty on 07592 833398 .
If you would like to become a trader at any of our markets or require any further information, then please contact the Markets Office on 0191 384 6153 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope you enjoy your visit to Durham!
